Italian term

tra le zampe

Italian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
"non voglio più quella cosa tra i piedi, pardon, tra le zampe"

It's a story for kids, and the character is a robot with six paws, who's telling another one to get rid of something... what's the best way to translate this pun?

Thanks!

dimenticavo, scegli tu se mettere o meno anymore....forse può bastare anche senza, essendo una frase già molto forte, lapidaria.

I want that thing out of my way, ehm... trot.

If it's a horse you could say:
I don't want such thing in the way anymore, ehm, in the trot.

I want that thing out of my way, ehm... trot.

Or use another horse walk name, like canter or whatever.

If it's not a horse, it's difficult for you to render the exact meaning of the italian idiom.

neutral Erin O : Out of the answers here, this sounds the best, but what is the pun?

Not sure I can fit one in - thank you Erin :-)
neutral Being Earnest : answer is similar to mine which you did not like. Er is not a word

You didn't have to remove yours (which I don't exactly recall, but I think the verb at least was different). "Er" is a word, an "interjection expressing hesitation", as my dico. puts it.
