French term

des mal-aimer

French to English Other Other
Il existe une organization pédophile qui paye du monde pour créer des mal-aimer dans le but de produire des idiots sur cette planète.

This is from Quebec and I know, the language is not good.

Discussion

David Vaughn Jul 7, 2005:
But even if the author is describing the child molesters, it's clear that "mal-aim" has NOTHING of the tone your translations give it. I'm not out to make enemies here, just trying to avoid you making a very serious mistake in a key moment of a trans.
David Vaughn Jul 7, 2005:
I hope there is something in your text that gives you the idea that you are on the right track here. It looks to me like you're defining the VICTIMS of child molesters as perverts and creeps. I'm not certain, but I'm afraid you're seriously off-base.

French term (edited): des mal-aims

rejected, unwanted or undesired

This is another possibility. Strangely enough, I came up with a number of Canadian references when I googled (on google.fr, restricted to French language sites) both "mal-aimé" and "pedophilie". They talked about the concept of the rejected, unwanted or undesired child being more likely to be subject to abuse. Seems to go in the same direction as what you're saying.

people who don't receive enough love

Aren't we talking about creating potential victims here, and not their torturers? (Though sometimes the first becomes the last.)

French term (edited): des mal-aimes

unloved people

What a silly sentence! There's a pedophile organization that pays people to create unloved people so as to fill the planet with idiots?

How do you "create" unloved people? Do unloved people go on to become idiots?

To take away some of the sordidness of this question, here's a stanza from Apollinaire's 'La Chanson du Mal Aimé' (The Song of the Poorly Loved):
Les dimanches s'y éternisent
Et les orgues de Barbarie
Y sanglotent dans les cours grises
Les fleurs aux balcons de Paris
Penchent comme la tour de Pise.

agree Vicky Papaprodromou : "...to create unloved people so as to fill the planet with idiots?" I love it!!!

AFFECTIONLESS

yes, possibly this is more the idea than "perverts", my earlier suggestion!!
