Context: "J'eus un débat contradictoire et sévère avec Louis Sébastien, le musicien méritoire des 'Ciels près du Ventoux', de 'Paris, de ma semelle' (les pièces pour piano les plus courtes du répertoire)...". Could be something pretty strange, as the protagonist is drawn to eccentric types.
