English term

teambuilding

English to French Bus/Financial Human Resources
Actually this term appeared in a Dutch text, which goes something like this in English:

"You get a chance to get acquainted to the Company and meet your new colleagues as well through a multitude of ***teambuilding*** activities".

It refers to a week long 'retreat' for new hires in a large company.

Many thanks Stéphanie for the 3 refs. All 3 indeed use the French wording, in contradiction with 6 members who prefer here to stick with the 'anglicism', the fight goes on...
InterloKution Dec 13, 2010:
english or french term in the french text... The english term is also commonly used in french. I would adapt the language (french or english) according to the philosophy of the group or business unit and according to the background. If for example the texts deals with companies with english or american (just international) background I would rather use team building in english in my text; if the text rather deals with small companies without international background , I would use the french term- since you want to use this term.

I just found Louis Cyril's answer with a KudoZ term search; initially I had found nothing scanning for ***teambuilding***, but after posting the question here I scanned again for ***team building*** in 2 words and found Louis Cyril's answer which I like and I'll choose (deadline tomorrow); thanks anyway M Fraipont for letting me know teambuilding is used in French (btw, one or two words?)

agree Caroline Grenache : Terme également proposé par l'Office de la langue française du Québec. Je ne vois pas la pertinence d'utiliser le terme anglais puisqu'il existe un terme français tout à fait approprié.
