: "Малёк" не означает "не сидевший"/ Because "fish" is an "in-prison" term. "Малёк" is an underaged criminal, he can live at home.+You can say:" This youngster is our new fish"(a newcomer), but not "young fish

Do not mistake with the term "punk" as we use it in life daily round: in prison the meaning is different.

: Dictionary is bullshiting, homosexual is not the only meaning."Punk" - originally means "that one who doesn't conform to the rules", in other words simply "a criminal"."Punk" in the prison (American prison) is "an outsider", "not a part of the community".

If what you want to stress is lack of serious criminal experience, with young age being only co-incidental, secondary factor. It also avoids too specifically ethnic uses like "youngsta" from Ebonics or too mild/gentlemanly "kid" from the likes of "Sundance Kid".
