A dime a dozen fits perfectly
Eng-Rus/Rus-Eng (asker) Jan 16, 2010:

thick on the ground

Peer comment(s):

Что-нибудь типа "They are thick on the ground nowadays."

These days, every time you turn around there's another specialist

I think "specialists are a dime a dozen these days" is fine, in terms of its frequency of use. The only thing is that it maybe has a _little_ more of a hint in the direction of "it's easy to find them and they're not of particularly good quality," than what you want, which is "there are too doggone many of them!" On the other hand, what I wrote is pretty long-winded.
