Russian term

былое величие

Russian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Hello!
как бы это лучше передать?

Осень - это чудесная пора, пора перехода, когда всё, что до этого существовало, медленно засыпает, скрывая все признаки своего *былого величия*.

последняя часть фразы есть по-французски:
... медленно засыпает, cкрывая les signes de sa grandeur passée.

спасибо заранее!

erstwhile / departed splendor

Many possibilities, but I'd suggest opting for lofty poetic language to properly render the visual.

Svetlana, no need for doubts. All of the above options work, it's more about personal style than anything.

Thank you, Mark! The more possibilities, the more doubts...

agree Tevah_Trans : Although I like "grandeur", I am partial to this one, myself.

Thanks, Katerina! Welp, I'm not familiar with it, but I reckon the Dutch ought to be ;)

faded beauty

"...It feels peaceful, Like time has laid down to rest,
As Autumn in all it's faded beauty of summer,
Has given us the chance for cool calm,
For instead of rain falling on this night,
Only leaves do."
