Осень - это чудесная пора, пора перехода, когда всё, что до этого существовало, медленно засыпает, скрывая все признаки своего *былого величия*.
последняя часть фразы есть по-французски:
... медленно засыпает, cкрывая les signes de sa grandeur passée.
