Spanish term

Promotor (en este contexto)

Spanish to English Law/Patents Business/Commerce (general) Legal section of website
This is from the Legal Policy section of a website that markets gourmet food:
Fulano de Tal (en adelante, **EL PROMOTOR**), que desarrolla su actividad a través del presente sitio web...

Would this be 'The Promoter' - or something else - in English?
I've looked at existing ProZ glossary entries for 'promotor' but none of them seem to fit this context. I've also read the Legal sections of a number of similar websites in English, and have not found any that use 'Promoter'.

Thanks in advance for any help.

promoter

Eesegura, I would use your first option.
Promoter: "one who advances, one who encourages; entrepreneur, one who participates in a business initiative "

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I was wavering between 'Distributor' and 'Promoter' - and ultimately went with 'Promoter' because it more fully encompassed the context. Many, many thanks to all who contributed!"

"promotor: promotor, developer"
Peer comment(s):

agree JPW (X) : I would go with developer in this situation.

Thank you, John - Mike :)
neutral Katya Robledo : I think Developer is ok, but it may fall a bit short from "Promotor", who not only works on the website but also the business and the product (in this case). =)

website owner - abbreviated to site owner or just owner

I think it means the person who is "promoting" the website, in other words, the website owner

Pondría las dos palabras juntas y cambiaría el resto. Saludos!

sponsor

I think it's the best option
Peer comment(s):

disagree Katya Robledo : Sorry, but a "Promotor" is not a sponsor http://www.thefreedictionary.com/sponsor, he/she is more like an agent! =)

an individual

If it is to have any legal standing, it has to indicate in what form the business is organized. If it is an individual and it has a d/b/a, then it might be Wolfie Mozart, dba Proz Gourmet Foods. If it is incorporated Wolfie would add his title, CEO or President then indicate where it is incorporated.

Now, for the purposes of translation, you can't do this, but you should indicate to whoemever you translating for that they should consult an atorney for the correct legal wording.
