I am looking for a translation for the term "pôle de recherche", to be used in the title of a new research centre, e.g. Pôle de recherche en administration publique.
I can only think of "centre of excellence", but I'm not sure that's quite right.
Many thanks!

Comment: "This is a term I hadn't thought of. Since there are many separate bodies working in this "pôle", I'll give research cluster a go."

: Depends what sort of "pôle" it is going to be: sometimes a "pôle" is cluster of separate bodies working in more or less close collaboration in close geographical proximity; sometimes it's a single centre....

: prefer cluster, especially here, as you'd end up with a 'research centre research centre'!

: Glen, me thinks just 'research centre' would be used ;-))

: If it's in the EU, it might be better to use UK spelling (maybe you could photocopy the spelling from Xerox...). I like the flowers: it says "works in field"; is that the field you work in?

is that the field you work in? In my dreams ;-) Very rarely I sit out at a café, but my laptop battery lasts exactly 75 minutes :-/ So you mean to say someone still pays attention to Brits and their spelling? ;-)
