sub-judice (in this context)

Portuguese to English Other Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs Statement
“Declaramos para os devidos fins que o aluno XXX, matrícula XXX do curso de XXX, até a presente data, não se encontra “sub-judice” perante esta instituição de ensino superior”

That's all there is on the page, folks. It's a "declaração" issued by the university.

I think it means that the academic commitments the individual had with the institution are no more..whether incomplete, failed or passed. His or her record is closed. The sub-judice being in inverted commas makes me think they do not mean legal qua legal

Please note..the quote marks suggest this is Not Really Legal...what would be \"legal\"..in a university environment re academic requirements? It would be that you finish them or complete them..If you have none, then you are done ..whether flunked,failed or passed..ahem

I thought long and hard about this..and I gave an answer, I don't see why that bothers you..
agree Deborah do Carmo : well spotted Jane - the inverted commas were the main clue, I just wonder why its necessary for people to get personal when all you did was make linguistic comments - people seem not to be able to tell the difference

I think that since this is a educational certificate of some sort, this probably relates to things from a disciplinary perspective and is to confirm that there is nothing pending against the student - in other words since nothing negative is recorded here, this is a final statement.

As I say just an educated guess.

thanks Jane - well since it's an educational facility, I'm opting for disciplinary (internal) in context but can't be sure.

O termo em latim refere-se ao fato de se ter questões em litígio com alguém; no caso, a instituição está passando atestado de que o aluno não tem pendências judiciais correntes contra ela.
