Italian term

formare ed informare

Italian to English Other Advertising / Public Relations
My question here isn't really the terms but rather, can any of you think of a way to make this still rhyme? I hae been racking my brain and can't come up with anything.

Discussion

Susanna Martoni Jun 14, 2011:
Or even something between Train and Brain?
James (Jim) Davis Jun 14, 2011:
Und was machst du hier Colin? Which is about the limit of my very rusty O level German.
Colin Rowe Jun 14, 2011:
Like the frequently-used German expression "fördern und fordern"...
Talking of which, if anyone has any good ideas as to how to translate this...
philgoddard Jun 14, 2011:
I wouldn't bother either - this text is just conveying information, and a repeated syllable or internal rhyme could actually be a liability rather than an asset, because it draws attention to itself.
James (Jim) Davis Jun 14, 2011:
Yes it has a nice ring. I don't think you will find anything for that particular phrase in English. If you can't match the quality of the English for those two words, you might as Oliver suggests, improve on other parts where you see an opportunity. However, this text here doesn't seem to be worth the bother ;-)
Eileen Cartoon (asker) Jun 14, 2011:
read the not I wrote to Oliver, I just like the sound of 'formare ed informare' and wanted something like it. I know, it's not important
James (Jim) Davis Jun 14, 2011:
Why do you need the rhyme? The rest of the sentence is really very far from poetry.

to form and inform

Hi Eileen,
my suggestion.
Sounds like in Italian.
There are several examples in the Internet.

14 mins

as a reference resource or for a training course

if you really, really want a rhyme (although it doesn't seem that important a feature of the text to me); you could of course try to lever rhyme or similar device (eg alliteration) in somewhere else nearby to compensate, if you felt so inclined.

'resource' rhymes with 'course'...

'inform and instruct' alliterates, if that's any nearer what you're looking for...
Note from asker:
Thank, I know it isn't important but I really like the turn of "formare ed informare" I like the way it rings and train and instruct or something of that sort doesn't have this. Anyway thanks.

Note from asker:
Love this, too. Now the dilemma is which to chose. I'll have to meditate on it a bit. Thanks
