Agree with the distinction! َ
Zeynab Tajik Dec 9, 2018:
Yes, I agree that کسادی is less common, but there is a difference between recession and depression in English. The Academy of Persian Language and Literature has tried to make this differentiation in Farsi by suggesting کسادی for recession and رکود for depression.

کسادی اقتصادی مصطلح نیست- Correct but, A recession is the contraction phase of the business cycle. ... A common rule of thumb for recessions is two quarters of negative GDP growth. A depression is a prolonged period of economic recession marked by a significant decline in income and employment. There is no widely accepted definition of depressions.

I don't think رکود=کسادی. Please see below:

Right. Depression is more serious than recession.

"In economics, a depression is a sustained, long-term downturn in economic activity in one or more economies. It is a more severe economic downturn than a recession, which is a slowdown in economic activity over the course of a normal business cycle."

کسادی https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recession
In economics, a recession is a business cycle contraction when there is a general slowdown in economic activity.[1][2] Macroeconomic indicators such as GDP (gross domestic product), investment spending, capacity utilization, household income, business profits, and inflation fall, while bankruptcies and the unemployment rate rise. In the United Kingdom, it is defined as a negative economic growth for two consecutive quarters.[3][4]

According to Wikipedia, recession is translated as کسادی.
