Discussion

Jeanette Phillips Jun 10, 2009:
If it's eg The Arctic Monkeys, they'd do a concert; Oasis would do a concert; Sir Cliff Richard would probably give a concert, or hold a concert; Sir Elton John might stage, present a concert; the dramatic and operatic society would put on a concert. So it's subjective, but still depends on the band.
Patsy Florit (asker) Jun 10, 2009:
It`s not a specific band! It`s any band. And they`re planning to do/give an open-air concert.
Jeanette Phillips Jun 10, 2009:
are we allowed to know the name of the band and the type of music?
Mirra_ Jun 10, 2009:
in my opinion the proposed definitions present small differences related to the context (that hasn't been well clarified): we organize a concert / we offer a concert / we play a concert. I do not say here which pertains to each answer just because this is not the place to comment answers. Anyway, these differences are mainly due to the fact that you *physically* play the music, or, you advertise it, or, you set the place for the performance. Or, further, a mix of two of the abovesaid three points.
Jeanette Phillips Jun 9, 2009:
They all seem correct to me, but it depends on the context, the type of perfomer, and the type of audience. If you are a young band or appealing to a young or young at heart audience, you could say "do a concert".
