Russian term or phrase: как <существительное> <глагол прош.вр.> - в названии сказки
Уважаемые коллеги, знаю, что такие названия, характерные для русского языка, но нехарактерные для английского, раньше переводили, например, так:
The Story of How a Muzhik Fed Two Generals / The How a Muzhik Fed Two Officials (Как один мужик двух генералов прокормил)

Эти варианты перевода кажутся, если не архаичными, то, как минимум, не очень подходящими для современных детских сказок. Посоветуйте, пожалуйста, как перевести название современной сказки. Вот, например, название:

"Как звери слона из ямы выручали"

Можно ли перевести это попроще без "The Story of How", "The How" и других громоздких оборотов?

Asker: I feel the same about "the how", that's why I was surprised to see this at "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Saltykov-Shchedrin#Literary_career". Now I remember an English speaker who used to use "How..." without adding anything to it. This is Sir Joseph Rudyard Kipling who wrote many tales like this. You are right. Thank you very much for your help, Mrs. Welsh!
