Discussion

Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 5, 2021:
I didn't know there was a competition!

And it's not even a legal question.
Bashiqa Aug 5, 2021:
@ Conor I thought my questions generated a fair number of discussion points but you`ve certainly created a possible top spot.
Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 5, 2021:
Apparently the takeover never went ahead, so that it almost some genius research work, still some very fine research work, thanks all the same.
Sorcha Diskin Aug 5, 2021:
COLOURS is a range of household items in B&Q here in the UK and I expect also in Mr Bricolage, its French counterpart which I think are owned by the same parent company... so I would have thought COLORS referred to the range from that shop
Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 4, 2021:
I went with "Nude Colors boxes" and the client had no complaint with that.

Perhaps neutral was a better word to use than "nude", on reflection, but that's life.
Lara Barnett Aug 4, 2021:
@ Conor The client needs to respond.
Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 3, 2021:
Lara, the client queried a few things (which is always very interesting, in moderation) but not this. A "tableau grille" turned out to be a kind of wall frame, not a painting or picture at all, for example.
Lara Barnett Aug 3, 2021:
@ Conor Have you asked for photos? Doing inventories with photo images is so common now in UK, there is a chance it may be same in France. Is it not worth checking? You could be analysing this for days but you still won't know for sure.
AllegroTrans Aug 3, 2021:
I now agree that COLORS is v. probably a brand name
Domini Lucas Aug 3, 2021:
@Conor Yes, I saw you said that about COLORS so assumed you knew. Especially as it was COLORS rather than COULEURS. I wouldn't have known that. If anything changes, or you need more info for future reference, neutrals could feature without the word colours as well https://carriejamesinteriors.co.uk/decorating-with-neutrals/... https://stylebyemilyhenderson.com/blog/how-to-decorate-with-... https://www.homesandgardens.com/news/decorating-with-neutral... Sounds like you're sorted for this time in any case. Hope all's well with you. :-)
Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 3, 2021:
Thanks Domini.

I put "Nude Colors boxes" and the client made no comment. The French put company names and brand names in capitals so I am assuming that Colors is the brand name.

I would think the boxes are probably storage boxes of some sort, that's my best guess.
Domini Lucas Aug 3, 2021:
nude colour scheme all that said, I have just found this link which does include a 'nude colour scheme' for a bedroom https://homebnc.com/best-bedroom-color-scheme-ideas/. In trying to check whether it might be US-based (not my variant), I spotted Slovakia mentioned in the Terms and Conditions, so it might be a translation. Worth googling a bit more. But if you do, make sure you are looking at home decor, furnishings etc., not fashion, make-up etc.
Domini Lucas Aug 3, 2021:
colour Nude as a colour, is normally used for clothes, make-up, nails or shoes in English, as per José's links. At least that's the case in the UK. It's describing something the same colour as skin/flesh, as Emmanuella indicated. With e.g. shoes, the idea is that wearing shoes the same colour as one's legs can make them look longer. Neutrals is more likely for interior design/furnishings etc. I agree with @Lara that it's better to get more info from the client, not just re the boxes, but also the colour actually. E.g. is it neutral colours generally? Which is quite likely e.g. https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/articles/keep-modern-cool-neutral... https://www.idealhome.co.uk/living-room/living-room-ideas/ne... etc. However, sometimes there can be a more specific nuance, e.g. in the UK when preparing a property for sale there is/was the tendency to paint it 'Magnolia' because it was neutral. https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/articles/move-over-magnolia-fall-... It's unlikely that it's the case here as it Magnolia tends to be used for walls. However, it is just possible there could be an added nuance present.
Samuël Buysschaert Aug 2, 2021:
Just some thoughts, i agree "boîtes" can mean a lot of things unfortunately, i'd probably think of wall mounted storage box at first, mb or those foldable cubes you can often find; but could also be a custom lockbox, that are often useful for rental properties like ABNB.
Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 2, 2021:
Thanks for the tip, Lara.
Lara Barnett Aug 2, 2021:
@ Conor I wouldn't risk using "box" without further clarification here as countries sometimes vary in how they describe products, given the names used in marketing for interior fashion trends and by the shops that sell them. This could be about food storage cannisters (Boîte de stockage") or it could be file organisers or small post deposits etc
Why don't you ask if the if the client has photos with his inventory? In UK a lot of landlords do that now, so they may do in the country of this accommodation. I suggest this through my "expertise" in browsing interior and home websites, being an interiors junkie !!!
Emmanuella Aug 1, 2021:
Couleur nude ou chair
Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 1, 2021:
Thanks José, that's that sorted, I think.
José Patrício Aug 1, 2021:
Yes, it's that
Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 1, 2021:
Apparently, if you don't have any Irish ancestry, you can "buy" a passport for an investment of €500k-plus.

That gives you visa-free travel to a huge amount of countries, and a decent welcome in the UK's former colonies.

But maybe here's not the place eh?
Bashiqa Aug 1, 2021:
@ Conor Following on from a discussion a couple of days ago. Does the fact that I kissed the Blarney Stone about 50+ years ago qualify me for an Irish passport?
Conor McAuley (asker) Aug 1, 2021:
The company that owns the property is French and lets shared apartments, non-shared apartments, and student accommodation.

I suppose, at a push, "nude" is beige or plain or undecorated, and box is box...I was just wondering if anybody was familiar with this kind of interior design thing, because I'm not.
Boxes for what, if it's not a silly question?
writeaway Aug 1, 2021:
What country is this from? Perhaps it's best to ask the client?

Boxes in neutral colours

I kissed the Blarney Stone in 1980 and got a stiff neck

Without any more context I don't see how you can discern that these are anything more than boxes

NUDE & NEUTRAL trend - https://www.pinterest.pt/quickstepfloor/nude-neutral-trend/
It means that nude and neutral are different: 'Think about the colors that come to mind when you hear the words “neutral colors.” You might be seeing light brown or light gray.' - https://www.color-meanings.com/neutral-colors/
Note from asker:
Thanks José, so here, nude = nude (a very light pink colour).
