Sorry, I'm sprinting..... It's an an online blog, really, about the financial world in Zurich. I know the phrase has something to do with shoe-shining, and I think the translation might be something like "we're not here to pat people on the head" or "we're not king-makers" or "our coverage isn't wimpy," or something like that:

Tous les jours, sur le coup de 8 heures, Joe Smith publie sur HIS BLOG.ch un article écrit le matin même et qui va faire jaser le monde de la finance zurichoise. Dans le milieu, une visite sur le site en début de journée est devenue un passage obligé. On s'y rend pour voir l'info du jour, souvent avec une certaine crainte: qui est égratigné, qui en prend pour son grade? Car HIS BLOG ne fait pas dans le cirage de chaussures.

I have ideas for this one, but without more context than "magazine article", we have no context. What type of magazine? What subject? What public? Target reader location? Please could you post an extract from the original in which your expression appears? Also, what have your own searches produced and what are your thoughts on why they might be good contenders or not even in with a chance?!
You can easily find the meaning in an ordinary dictionary so you probably need help with brainstorming this one for the context... of which we have none. ;-)
