Ho trovato che:
Vacuum pumps are used to reduce the gas pressure within a certain volume and they do so by removing gas particles from the vessel. There are two basic classes of pumps that can be used to achieve this:
i) Gas transfer pumps: where the gas particles are compressed via one or several stages and exhausted into the atmosphere.
ii)Entrapment pumps: where the particles that are to be removed condense or bond by other means (e.g. chemically) to a solid surface.
Le "Entrapment pumps" sono dette anche "adsorption pumps", ovvero pompe ad assorbimento o ad adsorbimento. Ho trovato anche "pompa a cattura".
Mi rimane una perplessità: se cerchi "gas binding pump" trovi una marea di riscontri, mentre con "pompa ad assorbimento" etc. ne trovi meno.
La "pompa a intrappolamento" suggerita dalla collega, seppure la definizione appaia assolutamente calzante si trova solo su Wikipedia. Ma potrebbe anche essere (?).
Magari arriverà qualche collega esperto a illuminarci...
