Credo che pinpoint non si riferisca a un dispositivo, ma a un icona che compare su una mappa, tipo quelle che compaiono quando si cerca qualcosa su Google Maps ( qui degli esempi: https://goo.gl/lfchDD ). Quindi più che localizzatore direi indicatore, o al massimo icona.
Per evitare la ripetizione "L'indicatore indica..." scriverei "L'indicatore riporta...".
