In my text I come across the words 'campo' and 'recorrido' sometimes in the same sentence. My question is if 'recorrido' is just a synonym for 'campo' (golf course) or can it also mean 'circuit' or 'route' when talking about golf, perhaps in example 1? I've also seen 'round' given as a definition for 'recorrido' (in Harraps) but I don't think that fits in with the examples I've given below. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Let's answer your questions one by one. By the way, never use the words "route" or "circuit" in golf.
1. campo and recorrido mean the same thing here, i.e. "course". I'd rephrase the sentence it to make it read better and use the word "course" just the once.
2. Here "recorrido" means "course" (an attractive 18-hole course). "trazado de campo" is "layout". I've never heard anyone use the term an "18-hole circuit" on TV or in conversation. Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean to say it's right.
3. You can translate "trazado de su recorrido" as "layout" and "recorrido" as "round". There are several holes with lakes before the green and these lakes come into play throughout the round, i.e. you might be playing another hole and hit the ball into or near one of these lakes.
4. here "recorrido" means "course" and nothing else.
5. This is a little confusing as it talks about different courses at a single golf course or "club". There are 45 holes at this club and five different courses (from what the website says). Some courses share the same holes and that there's a course for each level of ability. If you're a good player you might want to play the Greg Norman course, and if you're a beginner, the Rosa course might be more suitable for you. "campo" here refers to the courses as a whole (the "club" you might say) and "recorridos" to each individual course. Example sentence:

Basically I think James is right: "recorrido" in the examples you've quoted really means "course"; "round" is the act of playing 18 holes.
I offer "track" as a term you might use to ring the changes and to avoid having to rephrase in some cases where you have "campo" and "recorrido" together. I think you have to take it on a case-by-case basis.

: I think it's a term more reserved for course architecture/layout (contours, etc.) rather than the whole the holes + aesthetics. However seems popular in US? I've played all my life and my bro. is a professional - never heard it used to describe the course

Could be specifically US, yes, but American golf terms are widely used generally. Note "the routing of the holes". "Recorrido" does really refer to layout here. Fact is that "campo" and "recorrido" are distinguished in the ST.

: I have heard it used for courses, much in the same way as a cricket pitch would be called a "track". It's informal, though. Not sure I'd use it in this context.
