Doing the 'right' thing

Explanation:
"!تو رو خدا کار ما رو هم راه بندازین ثواب داره"...
"I swear, you getting this job underway for us is the right thing to do."

Its true that in Persian many of the idioms have a religious background, but if we want to give them a culturally appropriate interpretive translation into a colloquial English context we may need to take God out of some of these phrases. For example translating انشالله as 'hopefully' rather than 'God willing'.

The idiom "doing the 'right' thing" in English can carry the connotation of an act that is both good for society and that God might approve of, without mentioning God.

See the following for some examples:

Yes, you are right - the context is all important. So in a religious context maybe a better translation would be "you'll be rewarded"? Again everyone understands from the context that it is God doing the rewarding, although he is not mentioned.

I'm afraid I can't agree with Mahdieh, because "for the love of God" is used as a term conveying exasperation in colloquial English.

Notes to answerer
Asker: But how can we translate "do the right thing" from English to "ثواب داره" when the subject is not exactly clear? Since this expression has a religious background, I think we should be looking for something that is a little religious-style in English, too... This expression can't be translated from English to Persian as "ثواب داره"... I'm looking for something more mutual (If this is the correct way to say it...)...

(you will) win/gain points in heaven

Explanation:
we really do not have common expression like this in English...but you could easily use this to give it a small religious connotation...for example, you see someone giving money to a beggar...you could say "that will gain points in heaven"
