talented in every way; a renaissance man
English phrases that describe someone with a wide range of talents, sometimes unexpectedly so because they seem contradictory, emphasized in Chinese by 横竖:
talented in every way, a renaissance man, talented in all ways

p.s. if this were not a line describing a classical Chinese male poet, I would prefer the use of a Renaissance individual/person etc. too

2. His 才華 stands out in distinct arenas or in different ways, regardless of how similar or dissimilar they may be.
These are only my interpretations of course, since I don't believe 横竖 are merely filler words. Thanks!

: Does it mean that? That's what I thought when I saw the 横竖, but it doesn't seem to be used that way. For example, texts that say 李白才华横竖都溢 don't go on to describe his maths/sports skills. In the texts found, it just meant "talented", not multi-talented.

才華洋溢is the typical contemporary expression for being talented. The emphasis may be interpreted 2 ways: 1. 李白 was also very well-versed in Confucian, classical Chinese, & Taoist texts-styles contrary to his. His swordsmanship was also masterful. 2.see note

: 横竖 can also means" no matter what" in slang, 才华横竖都溢 is not really standard Chinese therefore you rarely see it in formal written Chinese.

Prodigiously talented
There are quite a few ways of conveying the idea that someone is extraordinarily talented. I like 'prodigiously talented'.
