neutral  Victor Santos: "solliciter le poids" sonne bizarrement mais c'est bien l'idée (mettre les muscles du dos et les vertèbres à contribution). Pq pas "sollicitent le dos"? Seul hic, il y a une répétition avec le titre. Mais bon, "solliciter" ne peut pas aller tout seul...

sollicitations prolongées des muscles


Explanation:
Ici "weight bearing" signifie simplement "contraction prolongée du muscle contre résistance"
Un muscle forcé de "faire un effort" est un muscle qui a été sollicité . Les muscles ne sont capables que de traction, ne peuvent pas "pousser" ou "supporter un poids".Tous les mouvements autre que la traction sont obtenus par effet de levier ou par rotation des os du squelette.

un exemple (où la sollicitation des muscles a au contraire un effet positif):

neutral  Tony M: I'm not convinced the 'weight' here is actually any kind of load; from the context, it is quite likely just the weight of the person's own body... / It seems to imply that the only time the back is NOT weight-bearing is when lying down.
