French term or phrase: Du temps en sport, comme dans la vie.
also appears as "Du temps dans la vie et en sport." Each time as whole sentences. In this company magazine for a famous sports watch brand the article intends to boast about a famous footballer's good taste in choosing to wear the company's watches. Having outlined said footballer's footballing credentials, the writer finds himself at a loss for a link to the topic of the sportsman's interest and good taste in watches. Hence the ungainly verbless sentence which we have to translate.

Explanation:
Maybe too fast to be good enough, but at least a start.

Of course, they should hire an Anglophone PR firm for stuff like this.

@ Paul: Great! The point being, Get out there and buy a watch – just like the one the famous footballer is wearing!

BTW, I prefer "Time matters," but that's no surprise since it's the phrase I came up with.

Glad to help, in any case. ;-)

(And, even though should hire a PR firm, I like these jingles.)

Timing is everything, in sport as in life.

Explanation:
Changes the meaning of the FR, of course, and may not fit with the context - but, an option all the same.

Example sentence(s):
  • In life as in sport, timing is everything.
  • Timing is everything, in sport and in life.

agree  Daryo: better related to a watch than just "time" - makes you think of a watch, so it would be a good transition to the spiel about the watch itself.
