What's my deal?

Mine is the real deal and each suit is trump. Clubs, I'm good at what I do. More important, I work hard to be better. Hearts, I love what I do. Every job is personal and meaningful. So I give it my best and my all. Spades, I love to learn and I'm a quick study. What I don't know I can find out. Diamonds, I'm artful but no dodger. Honesty really is the best policy.

What's my game?

In short, I solve your language problems. From literary, marketing & advertising and business translation to subtitling to proofing and editing, whatever your language need is, I can meet it.

Looking to revive an old classic or bring out a new novel? Over here. Got an essay or article that needs to read like an original? Right this way. Need a report or presentation to be fluid and fluent? Take a seat. Want to reach new markets and customers? Tell me more. Have an advert to convert? You've come to the right place. Is that a subtitle in your thought bubble? I'm all ears.

How do I play?

My cards are snappy style, good composition and a sense for meaning. Whether creative and imaginative or plain and simple, fun and playful or sober and serious, my writing is always clear and careful.

How do I score?

Over the years I have translated well over a million words in various fields. Every job gets my full attention, but some stand out more than others. These include:

 - Translating marketing and technical content for a top champagne estate as well as for several wine estates
 - Translating creative marketing and promotional material for craft beer (see portfolio)
 - Proofreading the website of an international clothing brand and translating a companion website
 - Translating and proofreading the website of a software developer
 - Translating the graphic charter and in-house magazine of an international airline
 - Subtitling a comic opera for television (see portfolio)
 - Translating erotic pulp fiction (no kidding)

My daily bread and butter consists of:

 - Anything literary, creative and sober or fun
 - Business documents, reports, presentations, plans, minutes
 - Marketing, promotional and advertising content and material
 - Manuals, courses, guides, handbooks
 - Tourist, food & drink, fashion and hospitality content and material

Check out my sample translations in the portfolio section above, and don't hesitate to ask for a free test or sample.

To my mind

Far from shifting linguistic units back and forth across an equal sign, translation involves understanding information, ideas and intentions in one language and conveying them in another. It's about making sense of the mind and will behind a text and expressing it in a natural idiom.

My bits and bobs

Voracious reader, podcast nut, coffee & chocolate addict, wine & beer enthusiast, night owl, workaholic, walkaholic, thinkaholic.

Born and raised (early childhood) in France—primary to tertiary education in South Africa—currently living in sunny SA. Native fluency in both French and English, but latter dominant tongue and thus target language.

Keywords: French, English, translation, subtitling, proofreading, editing, literary, literature, marketing, advertising, business, food, drink, fashion, philosophy, history, economics, politics, social science, humanities, fiction, nonfiction, essays, articles.
