German term
Nachweis im Blut
German to English
Medical
Medical (general)
Cancer treatment
Context:
"Für Patienten mit metastasiertem Brustkrebs (Mammakarzinom) konnte die prognostische Relevanz eines entsprechenden Nachweises im Blut bereits nachgewiesen werden."
I'm bit stumped by Nachweis here. The obvious translations such as proof or evidence just don't seem to work in this context.
* Sentence or paragraph where the term occurs: See above
* Document type: Press release
* Target audience: Press release readers
* Country and dialect (source): German
* Country and dialect (target): British English

since you insist ;-)

..prognostic relevance of identifying its presence in the blood has already been verified..
This presumes that the preceding sentence fully lays out what "its"stands for.

Discussion
I would drop "corresponding".
As I read it the discussion is about whether the patient should be tested for CTCs - is it a worthwhile test, does it add any prognostic information?
"the prognostic relevance of circulating tumour cells in the blood"
My translation:
There is intense debate in the field concerning the clinical significance of circulating tumour cells with relation to various types of cancer.
So it is the same German sentence as the one you posted, although it looks like it was definitely translated into English by a German at the IMM.
Die kaum glaubliche Suche nach einzelnen Krebszellen
(...)
In diesem Zusammenhang wird bei verschiedenen Krebserkrankungen die klinische Signifikanz zirkulierender Tumorzellen intensiv diskutiert.

I have also found an existing English translation for your reference:
In this regard, the clinical significance of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) is discussed for different types of cancer. For metastasized patients with breast cancer the prognostic relevance of CTC detection in peripheral blood was already demonstrated.

it has already been possible to demonstrate the prognostic relevance of the corresponding proof in the blood.
