Bio
You’ve come to the right place if you're looking for

• solutions instead of opinions…

• effective rather than stilted language…

If this is you, I’d be delighted to offer my DE-EN translation services to you!

Born and raised in Germany, I lived in the UK for two years before moving to the US where I have resided close to New York City for many years. Holding an MA in German (English minor), I have several years of experience as a German instructor in secondary and higher education. Having switched careers, I now work as a freelance translator for individuals, companies and agencies. While my favorite specialty area is marketing, I have handled translations in the fields of law, business, tourism, literature and even soccer.

A special interest of mine is international anti-bribery law with particular emphasis on the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the UK Bribery Act (BA) and German anti-corruption law. This stems from my previous employment with a leading international law firm and its internal investigation of a major German conglomerate. I was involved in the investigation as a paralegal and in-house translator.

WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU - AN APTITUDE FOR VIVID LANGUAGE AND IDIOMATIC EXPRESSION
The ability to transfer the embeddedness of a source text to a target language is an important expression of bilingual and cultural fluency and a core competency in translation. In fact, idiomatic use provides insight into the collective mindset of a culture. Most fascinating in this regard are texts which require individualized solutions such as slogans. The challenges they provide can only be met by rising above the constraints of glossaries and dictionary definitions.
