Morphology (Word Formation)
Greetings,
On today’s episode of از یاد رفته, Morteḍā, now attending šabāne, was being tested by his wife on morphemes (units of meaning which can't be broken down any further).
http://flesl.net/Grammar/Grammar_Glossary/morpheme.php
He gave an example of a free morpheme: باغ was the example he used, I think. Anyway, I'm sure that he was right as the word he used, like باغ, can't be broken down any further.
I'm pretty sure that the word for ‘free morpheme’ was ‘تکراژ مستقلّ’.
However, he then went on to bound morphemes, basic units of meaning which are used as part of a word such as ‘بان’ (e.g. at the end of the word باغبان) and ‘ی’ (e.g. at the end of the word ایرانی). What do you call a bound morpheme, please?
Best wishes, and many thanks,
Simon
