Thanks, that's helpful. It's nice to know that I did in fact picture the thing correctly based on the Russian description, even if I didn't know exactly what to call it in English. (And yes, I'm a native English speaker...sigh!)
Natalie May 20, 2011:
And it looks like it is exactly the thing that our asker needs :-)
Natalie May 20, 2011:
Like here: http://www.tri-sure.com/Images/pdf_brochure/Uni-Grip60C_clos... (it is called "Tear-out, tamper-evident ring-pull diaphragm" there
Natalie May 20, 2011:
OK, it could be, for example, a "screw cap with a tamper-evident tear out diaphragm/seal"
Jennifer Guernsey May 20, 2011:
Hi Natalie, Yes, that makes sense. I think what is confusing me is this word прокладка. How would you translate the whole phrase, If we just say "screw cap with tamper-evident ring", is the прокладка missing?
Natalie May 20, 2011:
Hi Jennifer, whatever is the design of the closure, "кольцо для отрыва, обеспечивающее контроль первого вскрытия" is just "tamper-evident ring" - http://tinyurl.com/3palzts
Jennifer Guernsey May 20, 2011:
Natalie, I think I understand what you are describing - a ring around the base of the cap that you pull off before you can unscrew the cap. Based on the entire context given, though, I was envisioning something different...more like an inner seal under the screw-on cap that is lifted out by a pull ring (since the full text said it was под крышкой, and it was прокладка с кольцом). There is probably a better way to say it than what I've suggested, but I think they are two different things. Take a look at http://tinyurl.com/3h2znlz at the photo on the lower left labeled "pull-ring cap" - you can see the yellow screw cap and the inner pull-ring cap. That's what I thought was being described. BTW, I like "tamper-evident".

Ivan Borshchevsky (asker) May 20, 2011:

Ekaterina Chashnikova May 20, 2011:
kapura May 20, 2011:
Google: bottle "safety ring"-About 81,600 results http://goo.gl/lbpA4
Ivan Borshchevsky (asker) May 20, 2011:
Thanks, Jennifer, I'll try
Jennifer Guernsey May 20, 2011:
Ooo, that's much better for the second half of the phrase. So try:
a pull ring for tamper prevention
Ivan Borshchevsky (asker) May 20, 2011:

tamper-evident ring

The bottle is closed with a tamper-evident screw cap.

a pull ring that makes it possible to control the initial opening

A pull ring is what I would call it.

You are correct, it is definitely not an o-ring, which is a thin rubber ring that serves a cushioning or sealing function, sort of like a washer.

safety ring which is secured when the cap is screwed on to the bottle

The HDPE tamper evident cap incorporates a safety ring which is secured when the cap is screwed on to the bottle. Opening the bottle breaks the safety ring, showing signs of interference.
