French term or phrase: se projeter de manière pertinente (dans l'entreprise)
Hi

This is from appraisal guidelines. After the appraisal, the employee gets feedback from their manager, one of the purposes of which is to:

"lui [permettre] de se projeter de manière pertinente dans l'entreprise."

I can see what this is getting at (picturing their progress within the company) but am thrown by what to do with the "de manière pertinente" and general snappy phraseology.

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

English translation:to (see how one can) fully apply oneself within the company
Explanation:
I understand this to mean that the employee will be able to use the feedback to see how he can better apply himself (skills, knowledge, experience...) to increase his contribution to the success of the company.

An alternative would be:
"to see how one can best contribute to the goals/success of the company"

Thanks Jeux de Mots and everyone. I think this is more the meaning although I still have a small doubt. I'll raise a query when I send the translation. Anyway, my "final answer" is "position themselves effectively within the company." JdM certainly put me on this track. Thanks!

to get involved appropriately (in the company)

Explanation:
See Web.Ref. There is no single translation for "se projeter"! IMHO, dans le contexte proposé, "se projeter" doit être compris comme "s'impliquer" - therefore "to get involved".

come away from the appraisal with a clear understanding of how he/she can effectively contribute...

Explanation:
I would say something like this...
One of the goals of the appraisal is for the employee to come away with a clear idea of how he or she can effectively contribute/a clear idea of his or role in the organization going forward...
