places that are irreducible(irreplaceable) to another (any other) Explanation: Hello again, as I have said in your other question, this is very common humanites rhetorics. In this case you can trust the literal translation, too. Just pay attention to the rest of the sentence there, if the author is talking about another place or an Other, as in psychology's Other. |

spaces/places that [nonetheless] cannot be reduced to each other Explanation: One person's take, I rate it high just because I like my take: My take on the lead-in to the phrase: "We do not live in a vacuum that can [rightly] be painted as lighted in distinct tones, but in a web of relationships that create..." As this is in relation to art, I didn't dare move far from the 'tones of light' in the original, because it could be referring to something in which tones of light are real, as in painitngs. Other than that though, I see this as an author wishing to address a perceived or imagined existential or cosmic significance to the subject. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 47 mins (2010-11-21 19:20:33 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Or "...to one another". |

spaces that are incompatible to any others Explanation: Olá INwords, repetindo, este texto faz perder o sono. Esta é outra opção. Começo a ficar curiosa de ver o texto integral. Há alguma confidencialidade? |

spaces that cannot be adapted one into another Explanation: I think the idea that a museum space is a versatile space, not like the kind of spaces in which we live which have designated functions that cannot be freely interchanged. My not very high confidence level is due to the fact that my interpretation is of this sentence as it stands alone, and I feel that more background might suggest a different meaning. |
