unsatisfactory I know, but I've never found a good English equivalent to the excellent Italian, which I always have to explain to people in the UK.....

the Italian idiom is not about misdeeds catching up with us. It's about problems that had been put to one side, until finally they can no longer be put to one side.

Proverb
yes it's no big deal,
all the answers provided are good and i cue other few ones:
-the day of reconing will come
-the truth will always come out
but in colloquial speaking i always prefer the notorious:
- what goes around comes around
- it all comes out in the wash
Regards,
Mauro
