: Sorry, the link you provided refers to the NAME of a company. Society in this context means company.

investment company / investment fund corporation
depending on what type of sociedad de inversion (there are 3 in Mexico)

In Mexico the so-called capital investment companies (sociedad de inversion de capitales) are, in effect, the regulated venture capital funds.
Variable income funds (sociedad de inversión de renta variable).
Debt instrument funds. The sociedad de inversión en instrumentos de deuda is a regulated mutual fund that invests into bonds registered with the NSIR.

: I think this is over-complicating matters. There may be more than one type in Mexico, but sociedad de inversión means investment company in my book, and jmleger has already pointed this out.

: I considered 'corporation' but can't find any source that translates it the way without 'anónima' included.

: I agree with both suggestions here, depending - as others have noted - upon the actual activity. 'Sociedad' definitely translates to 'corporation' in some contexts, according to Becerra's Bilingual Dictionary of U.S. Legal Terms, but 'company' is fine.
