Não entendi se tem o sentido de "quadril" ou de "entender o assunto, estar atualizado, moderno".

Parece simples demais, mas e' minha compreensao do original. Ao passo que as vezes "get hip" quer dizer atualizar o conhecimento que a pessoa tem, aqui quer dizer saber por primeira vez, conhecer, aprender, familiarizar-se com.
