É preciso muito cuidado com as palavras semelhantes, ainda que provenientes da mesma raiz latina, pois podem haver assumido conotações diversas em línguas diferentes. Veja as diferenças entre "plausível", que em português tem um sentido francamente positivo, e "plausible" que em inglês implica desconfiança:
