上月中旬，一位香港的朋友托我翻译一本某名牌录音笔的使用手册，130多页，27000单词。属于中型项目。客户提供的是PDF文件，要求我返回PDF译文。我告知朋友我只是翻译，如果不能提供预处理的文件，我只能用Abbyy这类的识别软件把PDF文件识别成DOC文档翻译，然后用acrobat professional转化成PDF。这种土法炮制的PDF文件，版面只是近似位置，版面只能是个参考。

友人同意这种处理方法后，我开始翻译，开始想用trados处理，但这种识别出的稿件，每个页面都有大量莫名其妙的分隔符，而且还要保证页面和原文一致，所以只能放弃trados，手动翻译一页，调整一页。其中的痛楚之处，想必各位都很清楚了。我记得仅一个播放键符号我就贴了几百个。交给客户后，客户对译文很满意，只是提出不少格式问题，比如目录页码没有对齐，很多小标题的标号没有，或是大小不一。

朋友前几天突然告诉我，这可能用于印刷出版！当时我就出了一身冷汗。天啊，这种没有经过DTP的稿件距离印刷出版的距离差太多了。这项目的处理流程从一开始就是完全不对的。我开始以为只是作为公司内部资料打印几份用于参考，如果知道是这种用途，这种处理方法，打死我也不敢接。倒是朋友不停地劝我要放心。

经过这件事我突然想，应该扩展一下自己的工作范围，向上要学一些翻译前期的预处理，向后要学一些DTP，现在请坛子里的高手，就针对这种PDF手册的翻译，提供一些思路和今后的学习方向，从翻译这个角度谈谈学那些软件比较实用。

北京昱达公司倒是提供这方面的一些培训，估计价格不菲，不知道坛子里的高手有没有学过的，能不能提供些信息？ ▲ Collapse

pdf 翻译和dtp Jun 14, 2010

根据您的情况，其实他应该给你源文件，比如framework文件之类的，然后用工具处理源文件再生成pdf。
直接翻译PDF或者转成doc再翻，永远是权宜之计，而且问题很多。
