Hello everybody!!
I started to have a look and a comprehension of Geowork - Translation Workspace.
Really, its functionality looks quite confusing.
Can anyone suggest any video/audio tutorial in Italian language as I 'm not able to find one of it, but only in English?
Is it really a must-have to survive in the dynamic traslation market/industry?
Thanks in advance for replying.

Some translators believe that if it wasn't for the fact that there is a partnership between ProZ.com and Geoworkz, your post here would probably have been bumped onwards to the Scams forum.

This review is 1 year old:
http://wasaty.pl/blog/2010/03/04/a-freelancer-perspective-on-geoworkz/
The reviewer's main gripe is lack of speed.

This review makes some interesting points:

* You can't see whether there are jobs in your language unless you pay first.
* You can't bid on any jobs unless you pay first.
Can anyone help confirm if the above two points are true? If one is on the "free trial", can one then see the job listings or bid on non-listed jobs?

No, of course it is not! What gave you that idea? Have you been, umm... reading any marketing materials recently?

As far as I know, it is a translation environment with the functionality that is far behind most modern CATs and with very fishy terms of service - for example, you need to give your credit card number to use the trial version and if you are not very careful you might end up paying for three months of service (even if you have never used the system!).

The only reason it still exists is that it has been developed by a particular translation agency which is forcing its use on all translators who want to work with them. In other words, you pay for the privilege of working for that agency. You can, supposedly, to use the system for your own work, but then you need to pay even more. Not to mention the fact that other agencies might not be thrilled with the idea that you send their confidential materials to their direct competitor.

Agree with Jabberwock et al Nov 4, 2011

Couldn't agree more. The only thing that can be seen as an advantage of GTW is that it's online. If you want to work online, why not use Wordfast Anywhere for free?

It is not accurate. You do not pay for the privilege of working for them, because no work is guaranteed. You pay only for the pure CHANCE to work for them some time. But you probably will never be given any job.

When I was subscribed to this system, I had a feeling that most of the jobs they post do not even exist, or had been decided to be assigned to their preferred vendors, so other bidders have no chance to gain them.

And yes, beware of their cancellation fee.
