They are asking you to conduct a focus group? I mean, this is a research marketing tool and if you are not familiar with it, it's not just something you are able to do right away. You have to ask certain questions, in a certain way, you have to improvise questions sometimes and check the personality of the people in the group. You have to ask certain questions, in a certain way, you have to improvise questions sometimes and check the personality of the people in the group. It implies some psychology techniques as well, to observe how people react to certain situations (For instance, my sister and cousin went to one together with other children when they were 6 years old, and as part of the procedure, they were left for 3 minutes alone in an empty room while the asker "went to the bathroom". The children were being really checked through a dark window and the people could see who were the naughty ones and the quiet ones).

Or:

1) Are you going to be an interpreter at the meeting?
2) Are you just being asked to translate the questions/final document with the results?

If number 1 is the case, charge per hour/full day.
If number 2 is the case, check this link to have an idea of the average price per character: http://www.proz.com/forum/prozcom:_translator_coop/58318-translation_rate_conversion_tool-.html

If they ask you literally to conduct a focus group and have no experience, I suggest rejecting the job as the results could be biased. You may support the asker if the meeting takes place with people speaking different languages, at your normal intepretation rate. And if you know about the world of marketing, check the link above, and good luck!

I think I only have to translate the final document Jun 15, 2010

Thank you so much Cristina,

actually I think they mean I only have to translate the final document. Sorry but I never had to do with a focus group before. Thank to you now I have a more clear idea.
Thanks again!
