This morning the "Number of visits" column in the member-only feature visitors tab says that a visitor viewed my profile, i.e. Other, Contact, KudoZ, KudoZ (answered), KudoZ (asked), Other, Profile (see the "Viewed" column). So far, so good.
The "Number of Visits" column tells me that my data was viewed 483 times (!). The number of views has doubled during the last weeks! The original IP address is 66.249.72.116 and belongs to Google Inc.

Please note: It is not my intention to start a new data protection and privacy discussion (see Google Analytics thread).
All I want to know is
a) what data (please provide details!) is tracked by Google and
b) whether I can at least opt-out of being tracked by Google and other "data collectors".
I simply do not want to be tracked at all.
Moreover, I do not want ProZ.com to pass or sell my data to Google, other companies or "data collectors" without my explicit consent.
What is your opinion?

Since I could track visitors on my profile, I have been frequented by the following visitors:
IP address: 65.55.231.101, MICROSOFT CORP.
IP address: 74.6.18.254, INKTOMI CORPORATION.
IP address: 72.30.78.245 INKTOMI CORPORATION.
IP address: 66.249.72.116, GOOGLE INC.
IP address: 82.166.163.11, P FINGAN LTD.
...
I need a filter function here, so that only real human visitors are shown and counted on my visitor page.

All data and information in my profile is there, because I want people to notice it, to read it and to contact me for interesting projects.

And yes, I’m very much interested in visits from Google and yes I’m very much interested if a visitor comes to my profile via a Google search.
The next steps will be to fill in the missing information on my profile, to improve the language of the existing text and to add new information and perhaps new features to my profile. So please Mr. Google Robot, or Microsoft or Yahoo or Inktomi, please visit the profile (my profile) of an experienced professional English – German, Dutch – German medical translator and interpreter.

Is there a problem with that? I am most definitely trying to achieve the opposite effect with Google and attract as much of their crawlers to my side, for the above mentioned reasons of generating more visits, more visibility, more business. People pay lots of money for Search Engine Optimisation. And you are trying to opt out of it.
Although, of course, the choice is yours only.

Jeff: Using Google Search or other search engines is a different kettle of fish.
The context is that every day users (individuals, companies etc.) access my data through the ProZ.com plattform (I am not in control of what happens with my data), and I would like to know
a) WHAT DATA (details!) is tracked by Google?
b) Can I opt-out of being tracked by Google via ProZ.com and other "data collectors"?

If you wish to restrict the information on your site available to the Googlebot you can do so with the appropriate directives in a robots.txt file, or by adding the meta tag < meta name = "Googlebot" content="nofollow" / > to the webpage.
Since you do not have access to the root folder and therefore cannot upload a robots.txt, I suggest you try the meta tags in your "About me" page.

Your profile is designed to allow you to raise your search engine visibility to the extent you wish (more visibility, more potential clients), and your visibility in areas such as the forums and KudoZ will also increase your profile's visibility.
If you do not wish to be indexed by search engines, you can also specify this, by going to the "Settings" tab of your profile, "Search engine settings" and selecting the "No index" option there.

Can we specify which of our ProZ.com activities we don't want to appear in search engines? For example, if I don't want my forum postings to appear there, but do want parts of my profile and KudoZ answers to be indexed, can I select options to do this, or does "No index" mean none of my ProZ.com activities whatsoever will appear in search engines?

The "no index" option is for your profile specifically. KudoZ and forums are indexed by search engines (nothing really new there, this is the Internet, right?).
