muchisimas gracias

Just a few short years ago, I dreamed of the salary I'm earning now...and it's not enough to live on

Some other stabs I took at this:
"Not so long ago I dreamed of earning the money that today isn't enough to live on"
"The pay I dreamed of years ago is starvation wages today."
"The salary I earn used to be my dream, but today it's not enough to live on."

agree snathdag : Yes. I'd maybe remove salary and use '...dreamed of earning what I do now...'

The salary I once dreamt of is no longer enough to keep a flea alive.

An alternative - as I rather like this expression!

Or we could turn it around:
"Nowadays I struggle to survive on the same amount I used to dream of earning just a few years ago"...

No need to mention money/salary/wages,as "earn" implies them.

agree Catarina Lopes : I like your second suggestion :)
