"rekab" can mean "stirrup/treadle/step/running board" and here it is an example of synecdoche, that is the part refers to the whole. (Using "ride" is also a synecdoche.)

I am not sure but as a matter of conjecture, maybe رکاب here refers to رکاب of horses.

I guess "رکاب" means 'ride' here.
خوشرکاب is an adjective used to refer to submissive horses, but it can also be figuratively used for cars or even humans.
