Italian term

collocano il contributo

Italian to English Bus/Financial General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Article on Kazakhstan energy production
Is "collocano il contributo in atto" the idea here? I find it a bit confusing.

Le attività elencate collocano il contributo di [xxxxxx] nel processo di decarbonizzazione in atto nel paese e raffigurano l’intenzione dell’azienda di ottimizzare al meglio l’accesso all’energia nei luoghi in cui opera.

Discussion

Sabrina Bruna Oct 31, 2019:
@ Lara With these activities the company takes part in the process of decarbonisation, the company's contribution with these activities "fit" into the process of decarbonisation
Lara Barnett (asker) Oct 31, 2019:
@ Sabrina I do not know what you mean. The meaning of "collocare" is not present in your suggestion. If you mean "THROUGH this list it can be seen how the company makes a contribution...", this still does not convey the active verb I am questioning.
Sabrina Bruna Oct 31, 2019:
My suggestion I think we should interpret "collocano etc. " as "with the listed activities the company makes a contribution towards the process of decarbonization taking place in the country"...
Lara Barnett (asker) Oct 31, 2019:
Verb - would "apportion" work? My issue is with the usage of a good verb, while my own text reads:
"These abovementioned activities allocate(or "apportion") ENI’s contribution to the country’s ongoing decarbonisation process, and illustrate the company's mission to optimize access to energy across the areas in which it operates. "
Lara Barnett (asker) Oct 31, 2019:
@ Cedric Thanks, it is the language (use of collocare) that I didn't understand, not the research, but I see what you mean now - I had actually researched decarbonisation, but I cannot see that that is the exactly the same nuance as "carbon sequestration".
Cedric Randolph Oct 31, 2019:
based on the context given The subject seems to be carbon sequestration. I don't know what the contribution is, but you should have an idea. I can't relieve your confusion but only provide a possibility of a translation. Maybe you need to do some more research.

You need to rewrite this completely, IMO, something like this, which still isn't ideal, but might give you some ideas.
"The activities listed, performed by XXX, form part of the process of..."
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Maybe "these activities form part of XX's contribution to the country's decarbonisation".

Actually it should read, "allocate xxxx's contribution toward the ongoing process of carbon sequestration in the country....."
Note from asker:
Thanks, but I cannot make sense of this either way: i.e. "The above listed activities allocate XXXX's contribution to...." ??
Hi, the problem I have had is that I am unsure if we can say that a "list" or "summary" of someones activities can "allocate" - i..e usage of the correct verb is my issue here.

attribute xxxx's contribution to...as being

Collocare bere means to attribute...you may have to change the wording around but this is a possibility
Note from asker:
Do you think "attribute" works better than "apportion" in the context - all the same?
i.e. no google-hits for "attribute the contribution", so i think a synonym of "attribute" would be better - although your suggestion is well directed.
Sorry, - mistake: I can see lots of G-hits now - it works - thanks !
Peer comment(s):

agree Shabelula : absolutely it's not a real allocation or apportioning, but a figurative placing the contribution into a larger framework/scheme of things or actions under way. It took a while to understand the Italian!

Thanks Shabelula. Yes, indeed!
neutral philgoddard : This doesn't work in the context.
