@ Giacomo I wouldn't use that. "Skills testing on handling.xxx" would be better, but the whole point about finding an English translation is so that it sounds English, and "tackle" actually sounds very "English" to me. Also "handling" is not going to work in every context.

In fact, thinking about it, I think "tackle" is a little closer due to the usage of "confronto", which is often used for a context of conflict, while "explore" although a great word to use in this context, is a little on the "gentle" side. But neither would be incorrect IMO.

FYI Hi, sorry, yesterday I was just about to go to sleep so I kept it really short. I wanted to add that "mettere a confronto" does mean "to compare" but only when in the construction "mettere 2 cose a confronto l'una con l'altra". On the other hand, a construction like that in the sentence above "mettere qualcuno a confronto con qualcosa" has a completely different meaning. Here the semantics of comparison is completely absent and the construction comes rather close to the English "to confront somebody with something". From what I read in your post I had a feeling that you were not aware of that. So I hope this helps, even though you have already found a good solution thanks to your skills as a translator and to the broader context. :)
