the blood ran cold in both of them
One's blood runs cold - One experiences a visceral feeling of fear, horror, dread, or strong forboding.

: Ha elrugaszkodhatunk kicsit a "mindkettejüktől", akkor még az "ereiket" is belefoglalhatjuk így: "the blood ran cold in their veins" (a szövegkörnyezetből nyilván egyértelmű, hogy a "they" a jelenet /mind/két szereplőjére utal)

the blood of both ran cold
The blood of both ran cold at the thought of its being a _grave_. And both had it. What else could they have thought? Six men, armed with excavating implements ...

: A "one's blood runs cold" helyes, de az én füleimnek a "blood of both" nagyon természetellenes csengésű megoldás...

both of them were filled with dread
Egyik alternatíva.

They were both scared stiff.
just to say so ...
Reference:
5 hrs
both of them were petrified/struck with horror/aghast with horror

The blood froze in both their veins.
Usually I hate mirror translations from Hungarian to English. (hate, hate, HATE them!) But in this case it's got a nice literary feel to it.
Example sentence:
When they saw that it was actually possible for a mirror translation not to stink, the blood froze in both their veins.

their blood froze
