German term

Voralpenland

Non-PRO German to English Marketing Tourism & Travel
Ein Super-Bayern füllt das Voralpenland, benötigt keine Touristenstraße, ist das Highlight am Platze.

Unfortunately, I have never lived in the mountains, although I like them. Should one say:

Pre-Alpine...
Foothills of the Alps
???

Not quite for sure...

Thanks.

given that this tourist-oriented text, you may wanna go with the somewhat poetic version :).

The foothills of the Alps, just as you put it, sounds very nice and even somewhat poetic. I'm not sure if you need anything better than that.

foothills of the Alps

Langenscheidt dictionary mentions Alpenvorland which indeed is the terrain in front of the Alps. The Duden (most recent edition of the German spelling bible) only mentions Voralpen (but not Voralpenland) and Alpenvorland.

the Prealps / the prealpine region

simply so. But you can also make it "more explicit" with
"the prealpine region".

Hi and good luck.

agree Sophia Hundt (X) : your second version sounds fine, too. It may be more geographically accurate as well.
