German term
Korrespondenzort
German to English
Art/Literary
Advertising / Public Relations
In the context of an art exhbition, e.g.
(Those are examples: the phrase occurs in the text I'm translating but without much context).
Does it simply mean the place where an exhibition is taking place? Or does it mean something slightly more specific?

satellite venue
The exhibition in the 'Korrespondenzort' kind of 'clings on to' the main exhibition; it is to be understood as part of the main thing. Maybe something along the lines of 'subsidiary' or 'sub-venue' might work - or my suggestion satellite venue.
Some other examples:
From Portland Art Museum, Oregon (US):
"Disjecta has announced calls for its second biennial survey of Portland contemporary art. Prudence F. Roberts, who oversaw the Portland Art Museum's American art collection from 1987-2000, follows Cris Moss as curator. As in the inaugural 2010 exhibition, Disjecta will pair with satellite venues to display work."

From a press release of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth (UK):
"The public is invited to mark the opening of the exhibition at the museum and in its satellite venues in Dartmouth’s Arts District on January 24, 2014, at a celebration that will begin at 4:30 PM with a conversation between [...]"

British ArtDaily.org website about the Bejiing 798 Biennale in 2009:
"In addition to a central exhibition featuring Chinese and international artists, there will be several satellite shows around 798. [...]
The Beijing 798 Biennale is organized without chinese government funding or the backing of a major museum. 706 will be the central exhibition space with satellite venues such as the SZ Art Center and T Space."

Londonist website about "The Genius of Jean Paul Gaultier On Show At Barbican":
"[...] The Barbican has launched a free app about the exhibition and organised a rich programme of events, including a short film festival personally curated by Jean Paul Gaultier. A satellite exhibition at the Fashion Space Gallery, Oxford Circus, hosts Jean Paul Gaultier: Be My Guest, which displays the couturier’s design work for the first time, from 11 April until 31 May."

Sure. In your example, though, it is referring to a museum ('Kreismuseum'), not a town ('[Das] Kreismuseum beteiligt sich als Korrespondenzort...').

Note from asker:
Thank you, this seems very plausible for a case where it refers to a museum, though might need some adaptation ("satellite location"??) where it is referring to a city/town. |
In the second example, however, it is referring to a town (Zerbst). |
4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Thanks, went with a variant of this in the end, using a longer formulation with "satellite exhibition"."

For the convenience of individuals seeking training a table is attached. It includes the most popular training that fits the board’s criteria. Please note that training is listed for Piedmont Technical College the area’s closest and most frequently used training venue. Corresponding programs offered by other state technical colleges can be utilized.

The way I see it is that "Ort" in "Korrespondenzort" must mainly refer to "town". Although I suppose "place/venue" is also possible. In your example, Zerbst is a town.
As far as "Kreismuseum" is concerned, that seems to be a place/venue/event location, but I believe there's something missing in your sentence before "Kreismuseum." If it's just the museum, i would expect it to say "Das Kreismuseum beteiligt sich ..." HTH

PS: It doesn't have to be the same exhibition that is held in several locations at the same time. It can be several different events, organized differently and showing different things, but being held on the same topic or celebrating the same anniversary of an event or person.

Note: I admit "corresponding event location" isn't a very good phrase (and it can mean something else in computer speak).
So I would suggest "corresponding venue" or "simultaneous venue" or paraphrase it a bit as I suggested above. Maybe Tony's "partner venue" will work even though the events are not necessarily connected by being organized together.

Note from asker:
Thank you, although I'm not convinced the English suggestions would work in this context. So an exhibition with Korrespondzorte is being held simultaneously in a series of different locations/Korrespondzorte? Could a Korrespondzort also be a town/city that contains several different exhibition locations? |
Discussion
you'll see they call the Bad Liebenwerda event a "partner exhibition". IOW the main exhibition is in Schloss Doberlug, and there are several partner exhibitions in other locations in Brandenburg and Saxony. Why not "partner venue"?
