« des first »

English translation: First class passengers

French term or phrase: « des first »
Au travers d’une infrastructure dédiée et d’avions spécialement équipés, la compagnie offrira des prestations « haut de gamme » pour la clientèle des « jets » privés et ***des first*** des compagnies majors, clientèle de plus en plus sensible à la dérive des coûts  et des services de ce mode de transport, notamment dans le cadre de déplacements intercontinentaux.

I don't quite get the sense of what 'des first' means in the paragraph above. Is it referring to the more expensive airlines, perhaps?

I.e. the "number one" people of "first importance" - the corporate high muckety-mucks :)

A note about register:

It seems to me that the use of the Franglais adds a slightly different register.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franglais

At least, it seems worth asking why the author(s) of the French didn't use the standard terms "passagers de première classe" if that's what was meant.

See https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Première_classe
"Les passagers de première classe embarquent généralement les premiers, avant les passagers des autres classes, et disposent souvent de luxueux salons qui leur sont réservés."

Or more generally:

agree  Sheila Wilson: The ones for whom first class scheduled flight isn't enough - they need to fly where and when they determine. Thanks for the new word: muckamuck :)
8 hrs
  -> Thank you, Sheila :)

disagree  Tony M: If FR s/t uses the EN term, I feel sure it can only be referring to 'first-class passengers'; FR is not shy using VIP when that's what it really means; however, FR wouldn't usually take the EN word + give it an extrapolated meaning. Exotic jargon ;-)

-> Thank you, Tony M. I suppose one could likewise ask why the text doesn't read "passagers de première classe"....

neutral  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: As the original is specific in its use of "first", I suspect had the writer wished to use VIP, he/she would have done so.

top company executives

Explanation:
It sounds as if they are talking about the type of client they cater for, rather than airlines. The sort who use private jets and don't want to rough it with no-frills airlines! You could use "leaders of industry" or a similar phrase to show that these are clients out of the very top drawer. Depending on how informal the tone is ("les first" could be light-hearted?) you could modify the phrase accordingly.

first class passengers

Explanation:
First entry...first time lucky???
I would guess (yes I admit it!) that this refers to first class passengers ... The French/English "Marketing-speak" mixture makes it unpalatable...If howeveri the phrase were to be read "pour la clientèle des « jets » privés et des*** first*** des compagnies majors" it would seem to make more sense.
