this is certainly a typo. cansient doesn't exist anywhere.
People did and do use "courant" when the birthdate is in the same month as the day it is declared. It avoids using twice the name of the month.
In english you would the 5th inst.

: conscient looks like a good guess: French Canadian pronunciationtends to pronounce nasal vowels one notch up from "metropolitan" French. For instance, my nephew's, name is spelled "Yvan" but pronounced "Yvain" (to French ears).

I already agreed with Eelisabeth, but the more I thought a about it, the more I am convinced she is right... The person who did the typing probably did not understand the handwriting, so she wrote "cansient"... I did a test... Just write "cansient" and then "courant" in a lazy way... You'll see that they pretty well look alike...
