This is a paint colour, now, I know that I may have some artistic licence but I'm not feeling overly erudite this evening... anyone feeling inspired? Source blue? Original blue?

What kind of manufacturer? Is this a paint manufacturer? Or a manufacturer of some kind of equipment? IN the latter case, it is very likely to be their 'standard' factory blue colour (you know, like 'JCB yellow' etc.) — in other words, the original manufacturing colour', perhaps for people who need to touch up, re-spray, etc.

HI Tony, this is a good point, I agree, however, the context is shaky, since it only appears in a list of available paint colours for a particular manufacturer. I am going to speak to the client about it, because it may simply be the same blue, as you suggest.

How exactly is it being used? Are you sure it doesn't just mean "(repaint it using) the same colour blue as it was originally"? (or: "to match the original items") — so much depends on just how it is being used.

If it's the NAME of a paint colour, as on a colour chart, you'd be best leaving it in French and asking the client for the RAL number ("bleu origine" does not seem to be a recognized RAL colour name btw).

neutral Tony M : AFAIK, this is not the usual way of expressing 'primary blue'...? / Strictly speaking, there's no such thing as 'primary blue' paint, since the subtractive primary is cyan, and not blue at all. So if it does exist, it's a bit of a misnomer!

Indeed it is not! And nor is "primary blue" a single, codified, shade of blue, I don't think, so I rather suspect artistic licence applies if this is indeed one of the "available paint colours for a particular manufacturer"./So get technical with me!
