The one-volume Āryānpur Progressive Persian-English Dictionary defines ‘رُخام’ as ‘سنگ گچی دانهریز سفید یا رگهدار’; after this it gives the English, “alabaster”.
For the sake of completeness I should mention that it gives a second definition: مرمر سفید, followed by the English “(white) marble”.
This ambiguity is no doubt the reason why alabaster is here defined as ‘رُخام گچی’:
