English term

The parties desire to maintain confidentiality between themselves

English to Japanese Law/Patents Law (general) Agreement
I would like to have Japanese translation for the following sentences.

The Parties desire to maintain confidentiality between themselves, one to another, and between themselves and the public.

I understand that the parties want to keep it confidential and not to disclose to public. But why is between themselves repeated?
Thank you in advance.
Proposed translations (Japanese)
3 当事者間の秘密保持を望む

Yuko Fujita (asker) Jan 28, 2020:

I agree with the explanation above.

"themselves, one to another" sounds like parallelism, in which "one to another" is clarifying or emphasizing the preceding "themselves" (between party A and party B).

"between themselves and the public" could be between each party and the public, meaning between party A and the public as well as party B and the public.

So, the sentence might be something like"当事者間および当事者と一般市民との間の秘密保持を望む"

Reference:

I believe it is referring to confidentiality in these two relationships

I understand the sentence this way:

The Parties desire to maintain confidentiality between {themselves, one to another}, and between {themselves and the public}.

In other words, my understanding of the two types of confidentiality being discussed is as shown in this image:

Note from asker:
Thank you Henry, for the clear explanation. I appreciate it.
